Openness and transparency – The first in our ‘Top Tip Tuesday’ series on Managing Change Effectively for Leaders

Being transparent as a leader has multiple benefits, and in a time of change and uncertainty it is vital to keep your employees engaged and take control of the situation. This will build a level of trust for your employees and help to prevent unnecessary fears. Employees will be more likely to share their thoughts and opinions, which can be beneficial for you as a leader, in gaining the bigger picture.

To become transparent you need to keep your messages consistent and ensure that you make achievable promises, keep employees in the loop at an organisational level. Think organisationally and act departmentally, how might the changes in the organisation impact your employees?
