Walk to Work Week 2015

This week from the 11th-15th of May is Walk to Work Week! Run by Living Streets and part of National Walking Month, this is an annual campaign which promotes walking for all. The idea is to get your workplace walking before, during or after work which leads to so many healthy benefits! These include:

  • Better shape – Burn calories, feel healthier and get fitter
  • Clearer head – Blow away the cobwebs and relieve your stress levels
  • Team spirit – Create or join a team and enjoy supporting and competing with colleagues
  • Hidden treasures – Make new discoveries in your area
  • Fatter wallet – Save your travel fare and walk instead
  • Carbon buster – Cut your environmental footprint

So as a team, we signed up and committed to walking as much as we could every day! We walked to work as a team – whether it was straight from home, parking the car further away or getting off the bus a few stops early. It cleared our heads, we had fun and felt energized and stimulated for our day at work ahead! And we didn’t just walk to work – some of us walked more during work hours or took the dog for a walk in the evening 🙂

As we are participating in ‘Race for Life’ again this July we saw it as training for the event!

Overall the week was a success – we all feel healthier already and have committed to walking more often when we can – and continue to reap the benefits 😀

Check out some photos from the week below!

Day 1 and the wellies were out, but we somehow managed to avoid the Manchester rain for the week!
